His pseudonym was inspired by the Long Way Round. This documentary follows Ewan McGregor and Charley Boorman on their motorcycle journey around the world, in which the latter makes several references to his trip "with Ewan". This led Carlos to say he traveled "without Ewan" – or Sin Ewan in his mother tongue – and finally adopting the English equivalent of his name Carlos to become "Charly Sinewan", as he is known today.
