Riders from South America are a rarity, but Diogo Moreira has us all wondering why. Hitting the ground running in Moto3, the smiley-faced Brazilian astounded friend and foe with outright speed beyond his years.

After an injury-affected final season in the Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup, Diogo Moreira is back with a vengeance, bursting onto the scene in the Moto3 World Championship. Surprising friend and foe, the São Paolo-born rider made inroads from the first lights out, fighting and beating riders very much his senior.

And not just in Moto3, either. Moreira likes to race whatever he can, whenever he can – leaving slick tires and tarmac to take on Supermoto World Championship regulars and beating them as a wildcard in what was a side-quest race in between Grands Prix to the Brazilian youngster.

Meanwhile back in the Grand Prix paddock, Moreira made the most of his debut season. Not only did he become the first-ever Brazilian initiation class polesitter, but he also finished his first world championship campaign as the Moto3 Rookie of the Year, cementing himself as a class spearhead and fan-favorite.

His second season in Moto3 was filled with highs and lows. He started the season with two podiums but soon started struggling with pace. Struggles he made up for in full with the first-ever Brazilian win in the lightweight class in India, paving the way for a move into Moto2 with Italtrans Racing Team in 2024. We’re looking forward to seeing what Moreira’s got aboard the Kalex!
