Zonta van den Goorbergh’s career choices are not for the faint-hearted. Skipping Moto3 on the way up from the lightweight class in the Italian championship to debut in Moto2 on the World Championship scene – at only 16 years old, making him the youngest-ever intermediate class rider – is unprecedented, and brave to say the least.

Maturing both as a rider and as a person in the public racing eye, is no mean feat. However, the Dutchman is wise beyond his years – both on and off track – with yet still a steep learning curve ahead of him. Though definitely aided by his last name, being the son of former 500cc and MotoGP rider Jurgen van den Goorbergh – the rider from Breda wasn’t even born when his father last raced in GPs – the young Dutchman is very much intent on carving out his own legacy in racing.

He's only at the start of his career, so Van den Goorbergh has time on his side and if he’s proven one thing so far, it’s that he is not afraid of taking on a challenge.
