VERSATILITY REDEFINED

When we set out to create the next generation of one of the most praised adventure riding outfits we ever brought to market (previously known as just the “Defender”), we had a lengthy “shortlist” of things we wanted to upgrade. Some things were relatively easy, others took a bit more time.

At the core, the Defender Pro GTX had to remain the ultimate, most versatile adventure riding outfit that is suitable for riding in both hot, as well as cold and wet weather conditions and anything in between. We just needed to make it better. So, we did.

LAYER UP,
FOLKS!

During the Defender Pro GTX creation process, we wanted to make a statement regarding the correct use of functional layers. As the old Defender outfit consisted of three separate layers; an outer shell, detachable waterproof membrane and detachable insulation liner, we decided to introduce the updated outfit as a two-layer system instead. Here’s why.

About this page

LESS IS MORE
2 INSTEAD OF 3 LAYERS

In the case of the Defender Pro GTX outfit, less is more. We know from experience that many explorers out there don’t make use of the insulation/thermal liner that used to come standard with the previous version. And for those that do need the liner, they opt for a more wearable, high-performance insulation lining. As a seasoned explorer, you want to travel as light as possible, and only pack the essentials for your journey. So, we used the savings on the thermal liner to upgrade the outer shell and armor, and let you decide from a whole range of functional insulation mid layers what best suits your riding needs.

CAREFULLY SELECT YOUR THIRD LAYER
Some riders ride without and others need the best insulation available on the market. So instead of including a standard liner, we offer you a choice of various liners at different price points, all with varying pros and cons. From basic insulators to high-end Polartec® Alpha® mid layers used by Navy Seals for active riding. Take your pick!

SERIOUSLY UPGRADING THE OUTER SHELL

We paid special attention to giving you the best when it comes to the construction of the lighter and stronger outer shell. The tough and resilient outer shell fabrics are laced with Teflon® coating, which means they are, by nature, already water repellent and ensure the shell stays light and dry even in wet conditions. Furthermore, all fabric panels are connected using safety seams. It’s a feature you don’t see on the surface, but guarantees extra ruggedness.

Another serious upgrade is the amount of airflow that runs freely through the jacket and trousers when the zippers are opened up. There are two big airflow panels at the chest and upper legs and multiple air vent zippers at the front, arms and at the back. A really cool feature is the adjustment strap rail, that allows for height adjustment at the waist. On top of that, we added more reflective material, nicely integrated in the design. That is not all though. It gets even better than this…

THE BEST OF THE BEST ARMOR
The Defender Pro GTX outfit is fully equipped with the highly ventilated, CE-level 2 armor from the award-winning SEEFLEX™ family. Without a doubt, these are the best limb protectors on the market. You will find the SEEFLEX™ limb protectors located at the knees, the elbows and the shoulders. At the back, a standard feature included in this rugged adventure package is the SEESOFT™ CE-level 2 back protector.

Additionally, the trousers come standard with the SEESOFT™ CE-level 1 hip protectors. If you prefer to wear a separate back protector or back protector vest, simply remove the standard back protector from its pocket. You’ll also find a few connection points at the front and back of the jacket, which are meant to connect our unique neck brace with our single-closure button. This allows you to keep it fixed onto the jacket, without the hassle of having to dismount it every time you take off your jacket.

DIRECT-TO- SKIN GORE-TEX® DETACHABLE MEMBRANE

The detachable GORE-TEX® membrane has been finished with a so-called micro grid backer. A clumsy description for a feature that is very practical/technical. The grid pattern allows moisture to be wicked away more quickly from the skin and also makes sure that your arms don’t stick unpleasantly to the membrane fabric, if you wear a sleeveless shirt underneath. Needless to say that GORE-TEX® is the number one waterproofing technology that not only offers the highest level of waterproofing, but also the highest level of breathability.
