SEEFLEX™
ROCKING & SHOCKING THE INDUSTRY

We shocked the industry by absorbing shocks like never before. Rocking, and probably even more shocking, some of the impact protection specialists out there. SEEFLEX™ ticks all boxes when it comes to impact protection and beyond. Read all about the magic behind them and what keeps you safe and comfortable.

THE MAGIC INGREDIENTSEEFLEX2925

You can’t make a tasty dish without the right ingredients, and the same goes for our SEEFLEX™ family of limb protectors. It all starts with the material used, in our case, SEEFLEX2925. This revolutionary material compound was developed in-house to provide the highest level of impact protection. That was on top of being able to perform in various temperatures or weather conditions; meaning it needed to offer stable performance in any condition between -10C and +40C, rain or shine.

TRANSFORMING KINETIC INTO
THERMAL ENERGY

Thanks to its unique molecular structure, SEEFLEX2925 has the ability to transform kinetic energy from an impact into thermal energy. As a result, the material offers excellent impact absorption regardless of the circumstances you are riding in. We’ll explain.

INTERNAL
EXPANSION

The power of SEEFLEX™ is more than just a choice of material. The magic is in the structure in which the protectors perform under impact. SEEFLEX™ protectors are shaped to absorb and dissipate force at the same time through internal expansion.

The open construction allows the material to expand in on itself under impact, deflecting and reducing any impact energy out away from the protector surface and away from the body, resulting in - and we said it before - exceptional protection under all circumstances and in all conditions.

About this page

Comfort: Adaptive Ergonomics

When we say, “highest level of protection,” it’s easy to think that these protectors come with bulk and discomfort. But you’d be wrong. Due to the combination of material and structure, the SEEFLEX™ protectors remain relatively thin. Furthermore, right where the protectors need to bend in order to let the human anatomy work in its natural way, we’ve incorporated our clever Flex hinge system.

This feature accommodates for freedom of movement without compromising safety. Adding to the comfort of your ride is the open structure that serves a dual purpose: it allows the aforementioned internal expansion that adds to the protection, but it also means you will have full ventilation. When a big part of your body is covered in impact protectors, you’ll be happy to find out that air can circulate without an issue.

Limb protectors are tested according to a specific standard, the EN1621-1:2012 standard for limb protection. We’ll break it down for you so you know what we’re talking about, and it will give you an understanding of what our SEEFLEX™ family had to undergo in order to receive the certification that shows they offer the highest level of protection.

Energy Transmission Test

Energy Transmission Test

Intro text

In order to achieve the CE-certification protectors need to undergo the Energy Transmission Test, which measures the amount of force that is allowed to pass through the protector after impact. In all tests the protector is placed on an anvil after which it gets hit with a drop striker weighing 5 kilograms (11lbs) that falls from approximately one meter. This to make sure the kinetic impact energy is at least 50J. As the primary goal of a protector is to prevent energy from passing through, the lower the value of energy transmission measured the better the shock absorption of the protector.

Impact Tests

In order to pass the test, energy transmission is calculated according to two mandatory impact tests:

About this page

Ambient Impact Test

No less than three protectors get tested in three different, predetermined “zones of protection” for the ambient impact test, making it a grand total of nine impacts before the ambient impact test is completed. Before testing, the protectors are conditioned by putting them 48 +/- 0.5 hours in an atmosphere of 23 +/- 2 degrees Celsius and a relative humidity of 50 +/- 5%. The ambient impact test needs to be performed within three minutes after removing the protector from their conditioned environment.

Wet Impact Test

In this test, two protectors get tested on the aforementioned three zones of protection, the difference is in the conditioning of the protectors. They are put in a closed chamber above water for 72 +/- 0.5 hours, maintained at a temperature of 70 +/- 2 degrees Celsius. After this they are placed in a tightly closed water-vapor-proof bag in ambient temperature of 23 +/- 2 degrees. After removing the protectors from conditioning, the wet impact test is performed within five minutes.

HIGH & LOW TEMPERATURE TESTS (OPTIONAL)

To live up to the claim of ticking all boxes, all SEEFLEX™ protectors have also undergone and passed - with flying colors, we might add - the optional High Temperature Impact Test (T+), conducted at +40 degrees Celsius, and Low Temperature Impact Test (T-), conducted at -10 degrees Celsius.

How to ReadCE-Marking

The CE marking label on the inside of every impact protector tells you everything you need to know. We’ll run you through the most important markings, step by step.

02 » TYPE A & TYPE B

Try not to lose us here, as we’re almost at the finish of our crash course in limb protection, pun intended! Within the EN1621-1:2012 standard, there are two test areas; a smaller “Type A” and a bigger “Type B”.

Depending on the usage, SEEFLEX™ protectors can be approved for both while maintaining their CE-level 2 protection. This makes it possible for us to use a smaller protector for, for instance, ladies’ garments. This way the highest level of protection is also available for those who would suffer from discomfort when bigger protectors are used than needed for their anatomy.

So, in a nutshell: Type A protection is referred to be of smaller dimension; commonly (although not exclusively) optimized for use with smaller riders. Type B protection is referred to be of larger dimension; commonly (although not exclusively) optimized for use with larger riders.

05 » LEVEL 1 & LEVEL 2

The EN1621-1:2012 limb protection standard includes two levels of protection.

CE-LEVEL 1

The first level of protection acknowledged by CE provides the standard level of protection. This means the peak force measured at the center of the “Zone of Protection” (test area 01) shall not exceed a single strike value of 35 Kilo Newtons (kN). The single strikes in areas 02 and 03 shall not exceed a value of 50kN. On top of that, the overall mean value shall not exceed 35kN.

CE-LEVEL 2

All SEEFLEX™ limb protectors are certified as CE-level 2. They offer increased performance over CE-level 1, aimed at riders who feel their riding style exposes them to an increased level of risk. The peak force measured at the center of the “Zone of Protection” (test area 01) shall not exceed a single strike value of 20 Kilo Newtons (kN). The single strikes in areas 02 and 03 shall not exceed a value of 30kN. On top of that, the overall mean value shall not exceed 20kN.

Flying Colors

By passing all tests described above, SEEFLEX™ protectors truly live up to the claim of exceeding the highest level of protection, ventilation, and comfort under all circumstances and in all climates.
