Wash & Care

Because motorcycle clothing is different from regular sportswear, the wash & care requirements are also different. Simply follow the instructions you’ll find inside every REV’IT! item (wash and care label) to keep your product in top condition for years of riding pleasure.

General Care Instructions

Always consult the wash and care label found inside your REV'IT! gear before washing. If there are multiple layers (i.e. a detachable liner) consult the label in each layer. This set of instructions is leading over any other instructions given. If you are ever in doubt of how to properly maintain your gear, check the inner label.

Specific Care Instructions

Depending on the type of motorcycle clothing or gear you have (leather, textile, a combination of both), different fabrics and constructions require specific attention on how to properly maintain them. Always follow the inner label’s wash and care instructions. We have also put together an overview of what wash and care can look like for your various products.

How to wash GORE-TEX Gear?

With their "GUARANTEED TO KEEP YOU DRY™" promise, GORE-TEX stands behind their technical membrane. In order to maintain its longevity, it requires special care.

  • Never use cleaning products that contain bleach, solvents, or other harsh chemical ingredients.
  • Do not use washing powder.
  • Never scrub waterproof or breathable membranes.
  • Do not expose waterproof or breathable membranes to intense heat or prolonged direct sunlight.
  • Never dry your garments on the radiator or close to a heat source.

  1. Before washing, remove all inner liners and armor.
  2. Close all zippers and hook-and-loop fixtures to avoid damaging other fabrics on your garment.
  3. Clothing equipped with GORE-TEX membrane technology can be washed in the washing machine.
  4. Your textile REV’IT! GORE-TEX garments should be cleaned with the specially formulated REV’IT! TEXTILE WASH. This detergent gently removes stains without risk of damage to the membranes and breathable fabrics.
  5. Machine wash on a warm permanent-press cycle (105º F/40º C) using a small amount of liquid REV’IT! TEXTILE WASH detergent (as mentioned on the bottle). Rinse twice, minimize spinning to reduce creasing.
  6. Never use powder detergents or any products that contain fabric softeners, conditioners, stain removers, or bleach as they will affect garment performance.
  7. Line dry your garment or tumble dry it on a warm, gentle cycle. Once it is dry, tumble dry your garment for 20 minutes to reactivate the durable water-repellent (DWR) treatment on the outer fabric.

If your garment has an LTD (liner to drop), please check the label found inside the garment for proper wash and care instructions. Each material is unique and requires its own method of maintenance. Pay close attention to - and follow - the instructions to avoid unnecessary damage and to keep your garment in top form for years to come.

How to wash motorcycle gloves?

Our motorcycle gloves come in a wide variety materials, can contain a mix of materials in one pair, and have a broad spectrum of features. Keeping them in top form is essential to their functionality.

  1. Clean the gloves by hand using a damp cloth. Do not use hot water.
  2. Remove difficult stains by using neutral soap or a special leather or textile cleaner.
  3. Do not allow your gloves to come in contact with solvents (do not use fabric softeners), petrol, or cleaning agents. This could change the characteristic properties (e.g. the color) of your gloves.
  4. Do not place your REV'IT! gloves near, or let your gloves get into contact with a direct heat source or direct sunlight, otherwise the material will become stiff.
  5. Do not use a washing machine, a dry cleaner, or high pressure devices to clean the gloves, as high temperature and pressure may damage the hand protection.
  6. It is recommended that you store the gloves in a dry and well-ventilated environment, out of direct sunlight and away from direct heat sources.
  7. Make sure that your gloves are completely dry before you store them. When gloves are stored wet or in a non-ventilated area, this may cause deformations and damage your gloves.
  8. Use our REV’IT! LEATHER CLEANER & CONDITIONER or REV'IT! TEXTILE SPRAY to treat your gloves.

Leather Gear

Due to the natural origins of your leather gear, these garments need special attention to keep them in optimal condition.

Leather garments from our Sport collection:

  1. Clean with a damp cloth and some lukewarm water.
  2. Let the garment dry at room temperature, avoid direct heat sources or sunlight.
  3. Once the garment is dry, clean it with our REV’IT! LEATHER CLEANER, let it dry again, and finish with REV’IT! LEATHER CONDITIONER.

Leather garments from our Adventure & Urban collections:

Due to the diverse nature of the leathers used in our Adventure & Urban collections, these garments need a little bit more attention.

  1. First, remove any surface dirt with a soft brush or toothbrush.
  2. Then clean gently with a clean and damp (white, cotton) cloth. Please don’t rub too hard, don’t use a hard brush, or other abrasive materials.  Let the garment dry in a well-ventilated room.
  3. Our garments with Full Grain leather can be treated with a colorless leather grease.
  4. Before using any care product, try it on a discrete part of your garment (like the collar or inside/underneath the zipper) to see how the product reacts to the leather. If you are content with the result, proceed.

If your garment has an LTD (liner to drop), please check the label found inside the garment for proper wash and care instructions. Each material is unique and requires its own method of maintenance. Pay close attention to - and follow - the instructions to avoid unnecessary damage and to keep your garment in top form for years to come.

Footwear

Your REV’IT! boots or shoes are the foundation for your feet on all of your trips. They go wherever you go. Don’t forget to give then the love and care they deserve so they can keep working for you for a long time.

Due to the diverse nature of our boots and shoes, there are some guidelines on how each material should be treated.

  • Waxed pull-up leather:
Colorless leather grease or shoeshine in the same color as the leather. The character of the pull-up leather returns after some time.
  • Full grain leather:
Colorless leather grease or leather in the same color as the leather.
  • Suede:
Only use a brush to clean and care for the boot. Never use leather grease or shoeshine. You can treat the suede with a water-repellent spray like our REV’IT! WATERPROOF SPRAY.
  • Nubuck:
Only use a brush to clean and care for the boot. Never use leather grease or shoeshine. You can clean the nubuck with a little bit of soft soap.

  1. Let wet boots dry naturally, at room temperature.
  2. Do not place your boots near a heater/heat source or in direct sunlight.
  3. Only clean and use your boots when they are dry inside and outside.
  4. Remove dust and dirt with a cloth or a soft shoe brush from a dry boot.
  5. Do not forget to clean the sole of the boot.
  6. Difficult stains can be removed with REV’IT! LEATHER CLEANER
  7. Treat leather boots regularly with REV’IT! LEATHER CONDITIONER
  8. Never use a water-repellant spray on full grain boots. By doing this, you will close the pores and the breathability of the shoe. For this reason, our WP-leather is pretreated to minimize water absorption.
