At REV'IT! we made our first ever leather suit in 1997, just two years after the start of our brand. Ever since that time we have acknowledged the purpose of a leather racing suit by sponsoring riders.
We started out in our country of origin, supporting riders in the Dutch National championships and boy did we evolve since then. Let us take you with us on a small journey.
Our first leather suit, and what happened next The first ever leather REV'IT! suit was made in 1997. Immediately the suit was taken in well by many motorcycle enthusiasts and track riders, praising it for its fit and –by the less unfortunate- for its protective features. Already noticed by many motorcyclists for its unique style, our suits soon became a fixed value in our dealers' assortment and on the European racetracks.
Throughout the years we have supported many riders, which in return provided us with an insight on what a suit had to cope with during the use and abuse from a racer rather than a rider. With this information we continuously developed our suits in many ways. At the same time this demanded riders of an ever increasing skill level to further push our developments and all products that derived from it to the next level. To be honest, we knew this moment would come for some time already…
Stepping up to the plate: the start of our MotoGP presenceTo truly understand what a racing suit should be like, you will have to go racing. To truly understand what the ultimate racing suit should be like, you will have to take your racing activities to the highest level. This is what we did in 2008, by starting to work with a team of riders that we call our heroes. Professional riders who look into every single detail in order to constantly improve their lap times, even if it is just by a thousand of a second.
Our first ever hero was Randy De Puniet in 2008. At that time Randy was just starting a new adventure, switching back to the LCR squad in which he had many 250cc successes. By now on the satellite Honda MotoGP bike he proved to be a great development rider. He was able to point out several points of improvement from the start, which we were able to translate into the products sold through our dealers.
Ever since 2008 we have expanded our presence in professional motorcycle racing. Today we have a solid presence in many prestigious motorcycle world championships, such as MotoGP, Moto2, Moto3, World Superbikes, and World Supersport. At the same time we support many talents in national championships to support them in their ambition to compete at the world stage. Not only it enables us to continuously develop our products, it also gives us the possibility to show our love for the sport that is deeply rooted in our dna: the love for motorsport.
