MotoGP gear for mortals isn’t easy to acquire. It’s something many dream about owning. Like a Desmosedici RR or an RC213V-S. However, with the airbag-ready REV’IT! Scorpio one-piece racing suit, you can now get a MotoGP-ready suit almost identical to what our professional REV’IT! riders are using.

About this page

DEVELOPED WITH DANILO

Our current suits used by our MotoGP stars are the result of an ongoing evolution since our entry into the paddock in 2008. So, only giving credits to Danilo Petrucci wouldn’t do justice to the countless hours, laps, and crashes put in by the other riders from our team.

However, the Scorpio one-piece suit is developed in close contact with the Ducati Factory MotoGP rider and for a good reason. The unique thing about Danilo is his approach to racing when, from the outside, he seems to be on the back foot compared to the competition.

Taller and more muscular - thus heavier - than most of his rivals, he is even more determined to compensate for any of these “disadvantages” by making sure all variables are at their optimal level. In the case of his suit, results in a lightweight, extremely flexible, and hardly noticable outer shell that offers maximum protection. And more importantly, one that allows him to win in MotoGP.

And it’s with his input we managed to offer you the REV’IT! Scorpio: MotoGP-spec tech available for the rest of us mere mortals.

CLEVER CONSTRUCTION

When talking leather suits, the first subject to discuss is - you’ve guessed it - the leather used for the outer shell. As with the suits used by our MotoGP riders, kangaroo leather is the way to go. Compared to cowhide, a kangaroo skin offers an incredibly high level of abrasion resistance in a thinner package which offers two big advantages.

Those are more flexibility and less weight. For professional riders, two crucial factors in search of that last thousandth of a second, and for track day enthusiasts, a major win to hone their skills in full freedom of movement. However, in the Scorpio, you will find more than just kangaroo leather, and for reasons you might not be aware of. Allow us to explain…

Article

IF THE
SUIT FITS

Due to its stretch properties, kangaroo leather offers freedom of movement from the get-go rather than needing to break in over time like a cowhide suit does. However, stretching leather means creating space - and length - in the material. For that reason, a full kangaroo suit gets “bigger” over time, which results in a wider fit and a less appealing appearance over time. When you just bought your next favorite racing suit, we want you to enjoy it for a long time, and we expect your suit use isn’t at the level of a professional rider.

For this reason, we’ve incorporated kangaroo leather on the places that matter, while strategically using cowhide on spots where a suit would otherwise “drag.” The result: flexibility from first twist of the throttle, but with a durable fit that lasts. Connecting the dots, PWR|Kevlar® stretch is used to allow for gymnast-like freedom of movement for all limbs, of course, all put together with our extremely strong PWR|yarn thread to keep things together in case of an unfortunate mishap.

WHEN WE SAY
FULL SPEC

You can’t make a claim like we do with the Scorpio without backing it up properly. The suit truly derives directly from our efforts in the pinnacle of motorsports, and it’s developed to offer you the exact same specs as we offer to our professional riders. The trained eye already spotted the indicator lights on the sleeve, which shows you its airbag-ready characteristics.

The Scorpio one-piece suit is prepared for the Tech-Air® airbag system which easily zips in to become an integrated part of the suit. This system operates independently of your bike as a stand-alone unit and is developed to provide full upper body protection. When fully inflated, the Tech-Air™ system offers protection to the back, kidneys, chest, and shoulders.

TECH-AIR® EXPLAINED

Identical to what we use in racing, the Tech-Air® system for which the REV’IT! Scorpio is prepared for makes use of a network of sensors incorporated in the system’s chassis. These sensors are all connected to the airbag control unit which is housed in the integrated polymer back protector.

Thanks to keeping things compact, this setup works as a self-contained system that doesn’t require additional sensors on your track bike, meaning you can jump from one bike on to the other without having to make any changes to the airbag setup. A full charge of the system allows for up to 25 hours of riding, meaning a weekend on-track should normally be enjoyed without additional hassle.

THE SUM OF
ALL FEATURES

About this page

Knowing you’re packing all the safety features - and you’ve got full freedom of movement - it’s time to hone your skills and explore the limits. Because this is what the REV’IT! Scorpio was developed to do: to allow you to take your skill set to the next level by giving you the required tools for the trade.

Knowing that the pattern of the suit, and the strategically placed PWR|kevlar® stretch panels allow you to move as easily as possible, you will know find yourself shifting around and hanging off your bike effortlessly, which helps you increase inclination; knowing you can transfer your body weight exactly the way you want.

With this in mind, you’ll be needing more than just the replaceable knee sliders that come standard. You’ll be happy to also find the replaceable elbow sliders on the Scorpio’s sleeves. Not just there for the bragging rights, these elbow sliders will become more and more relevant to track day riders looking at the fact that modern sport bikes and the sticky tires that come with them allow you to maintain high corner speed, which ultimately, comes with the need to use more lean angle in order to stick to the racing line.

About this page

UP THE ANTE REDUCE THE HEAT

Track riding pairs perfectly with increased body heat, whether it’s from your extensive efforts or the weather conditions on a sunny day. Already compensated by a surplus of perforation in the Scorpio one-piece suit - helping riders cool down from the outside in - a moisture-wicking undersuit is a welcome addition to move body heat from the inside out.

Our tried and tested Excellerator undersuit has therefore been complemented by a totally new, specifically knitted sibling that allows you to get the best from your one-piece on a track day or a sportive ride on the streets, aptly named the Supersonic. Aside from moisture-wicking characteristics, these suits are key in preventing muscle fatigue that becomes eminent when braking hard and holding on during track days.
