Meet REV'IT! Rider Ayumu Sasaki! The Japanese rider has been at the forefront of a new wave of Asian talent taking the GP paddock by storm.
Hailing from Yokosuka on the shores of Tokyo Bay in Japan, Ayumu Sasaki has been at the forefront of a new wave of Asian talent taking the GP paddock by storm. The Japanese rider first made his presence felt in the Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup in 2015, fighting for the championship on his first time out, and claiming title the next season.
Carrying that momentum forward to his debut in the Moto3 World Championship the year after, the Japanese rider took the 2017 Rookie of the Year award. Further building on those odds-defying performances, Sasaki has settled into the groove in Moto3 to become a definitive class frontrunner.
With all eyes on Sasaki – nicknamed Crazy Boy for his, for a Japanese very uncharacteristically, outspoken character – the pressure was on all season in Moto3 in 2023. He proved his worth and showed his prowess, to lose out by just six points, finishing the 2023 Moto3 runner-up. With new challenges ahead, that result earned him a chance with the Yamaha family in Moto2 for 2024.
