Based on riding data and crash analyses acquired over thousands of incidents and millions of kilometers, the Tech-Air® system uses artificial intelligence to monitor your most minute movements effectively and accurately – both intentional and unintentional – to know what is going on and to act accordingly when time calls for it. Information is constantly being fed to the intelligent crash detection algorithm in the Airbag Control Unit via three integrated gyroscopes and an equal number of accelerometers. The Avertum Tech-Air® airbag is designed with real-life usability in mind. All the electronics are water resistant and the LED display on the front of the airbag clearly indicates operational status as well as the battery level. Once fully charged, the lithium-ion battery offers about 30 hours of operation and for quick-and-easy charging the airbag comes equipped with a magnetic micro-USB charger.

COMFORTSafety and comfort go hand in hand

Because you will be wearing the Avertum Tech-Air® under a regular motorcycle jacket or leather suit, we’ve designed the airbag to blend seamlessly into your outfit. Constructed almost entirely of a variety of durable mesh fabrics, the short-sleeve design of the Avertum Tech-Air® is lightweight and incredibly breathable. 

Light and comfortable to wear as well, with even the dexterity enhancing stretchable parts made of a mesh spandex. Obviously hard-wearing areas such as the shoulders are additionally reinforced with a durable yet supple ripstop material – also ventilated, with laser-cut perforations. On top of that, even the back of the airbag system itself is designed to let air flow through.

The fit of the Avertum Tech-Air® is kept snug to assure safety and comfort go hand in hand, with extra wide elastic rib cuffs along the sleeves to prevent them creeping up, so you stay comfortable. Along the collar a soft neoprene material makes sure you barely feel it on the skin.

Designed with state-of-the-art airbag technology, our Avertum Tech-Air® airbag is based around three accelerometers and three gyroscopes, that are integrated into a beautifully subtle and ergonomically fitting vest. With the vest made to be worn under a jacket, it’s lack of a collar means the Avertum disappears almost entirely under whatever garment you choose to wear over it.

Technical inside, clear and clean outside
Assembled from durable ripstop fabric and ample breathable mesh, with wide strips of additional stretch material around the sleeves to give a secure feeling fit. By fully integrating the electronics into the vest itself, the Avertum airbag vest’s safety features inconspicuously blend into the design. Even the magnetic trigger tab is hidden away inside the zip cover.

When the sensors trip and the airbag is deployed, protection levels are comparable to 18 CE-level 1 back protectors and impact force is reduced by up to 93% compared to passive CE-certified protectors.

The Avertum Tech-Air® airbag is fully race ready and fully compliant to the “FIM Requirements for Grand Prix Airbags 2018.

MAINTENANCEServicing and recharging

A technical garment like Avertum Tech-Air® requires regular maintenance and in case of deployment, a replacement of the cannisters is required. Even without the airbag having been deployed, the Tech-Air® system should be serviced at least once every two years or 500 hours of use. Whatever comes first.

During a service the whole airbag is inspected and washed. With a recharge, the system is reloaded with fresh canisters as well as getting a through-and-through inspection and the airbag will also be washed.

To make sure use of the Avertum Tech-Air® is kept as simple and convenient as possible, routine maintenance through our Tech-Air® service center is thorough and easy to access, and always with rider safety in mind.

Important information

When the System is used with an Outer Garment, the user must verify if the Outer Garment provides a sufficient inner volume able to contain the deployed airbag as follows:

1. Measure the circumference of the chest

2. Measure the garment width on the chest region

3. The Outer Garment is compatible with the System if B > 0.5 X A + 12 CM (B > 0.5 X A + 4.72 in)

WARNING!The System must ALWAYS be used with a correctly fitting Outer Garment of the user’s appropriatesize. Use of the System with the incorrect size of an Outer Garment, or not compliant with the sizecheck recommendations above, may result in the System malfunction or failure and injury, including severe injury and/or death.

HEALTH AND AGE RESTRICTIONSThe Systems must not be handled by children at any time. The Systems must not be used by persons under the age of 18 years. In the event of a crash, inflation of the Systems will cause sudden pressure across the back and torso. This can cause discomfort and for users in poor health this may cause complications. Therefore, the Systems cannot be used: (I) by persons under age of 18; (II) by persons with a history of heart problems, or other diseases, conditions, afflictions or illnesses which may weaken the heart; (III) by persons fitted with a pacemaker or other implanted electronic medical devices; (IV) by persons with neck or back problems; (V) by women during pregnancy; (VI) by women with artificial breast implants and, in general, by persons with any kind of body implant prior to consulting a (medical) doctor. Any body piercings which coincide with the airbag coverage area should be removed before electing to use the Systems, as inflation of the airbag into and against the body piercings may cause discomfort and/or injury.
